Baptism

Baptism Preparation at Holy trinity church

We enter the church family and become children of God, with the Sacrament of Baptism.

Those desiring Baptism for their child must be participating and registered members of Holy Trinity Church. Parents are required to meet with the Pastor for an interview and upon his approval may attend Baptism classes.

Baptism classes are offered on Sundays, listed below, from 10:30-12:00, in the Parish meeting room. Parents may bring their child.  Parents are required to attend both classes before the Baptism.  Paperwork must be completed one week before the first class meets.

Remaining classes for this year:

July 10, 2016
July 17, 2016
October 9, 2016
October 16, 2016

Special Baptisms (not on the scheduled dates) are reserved for grave pastoral reasons such as a child in danger of death or for a child whose parent is in the military and is being deployed.

Children over the age of 6 must attend RCIA for children. Baptisms will be held on Easter Vigil Mass.

Godparents: One qualified person may be a godparent. The qualified person must be practicing his/her Catholic faith, have received the Sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation and if married, the marriage must be valid with the Church.

Baptism cannot be denied but can be delayed if the parents are not ready to assume their role in bringing up their child in the Catholic faith.

The following is required for Baptism of children:

Obtain a Baptism form from the Church office and schedule an appointment with the Pastor.

Completed forms are to be returned to the Church office on the scheduled interview date.

Please bring a copy of the child's birth certificate for the Baptism file.

Baptism will be scheduled after the forms are submitted and interview completed.

Parents are to attend both Baptism classes.

Schedule the Baptism of the child.

Baptism of adults is the first Sacrament of Initiation.
